Status quo 2020

What has happened? The year 2020 was full of contrasts — which is why things went rather quiet here on the blog over the past months. What exactly happened is what this post goes through, point by point.

Magmacore®

Like 2019, 2020 was shaped by the development of the new SaaS solution for information management, which lets you store, process and share data and information such as web pages, documents, receipts, customer data and more. That is our new business model, meant to install a good measure of solidarity into IT. The start was terrific and we look forward to more interested parties and customers who want to work together with Magmacore®.

The COVID-19 virus

Here too the effects of COVID-19 are clearly noticeable. Projects were cancelled and in certain areas revenue has dropped. For our small business owners who wanted to realise something of their own in particular, that is a harsh blow. Even so, everyone who gave it a try was able to book some successes. People with digital business models especially were able to create value for society through the restrictions “corona” brought with it — and with it great success. That makes me all the happier.

A shift of focus

New situations call for non-traditional ways of thinking. Even before COVID-19 that was the reason behind the Magmacore slogan. So I do not want to build capitalist silos like so many others out there, silos meant only to generate revenue. I want to change the field of IT with solidarity, technology and humanity.

My goal is to strengthen data literacy in Germany and to create a foundation that lets anyone build an IT foundation of their own — hand in hand with IT professionals. That moves away from traditional IT services to a degree. It does not mean the distance to individual IT work grows, quite the opposite: it makes the connection between business and IT far stronger, more efficient and cheaper.

New areas of work

Through further training, new experiences and meeting new people in new projects, the portfolio of solutions grows. The quality of the work can be consolidated and even extended further. For customers it means that cooperation can be arranged even more efficiently and that more comes from a single source. The variety and the passion are a real joy for everyone involved. That is why I see it as the right path to add a few sub-areas to software development, online marketing and platform architecture.

What is described briefly here has far-reaching effects, some of which have not fully materialised yet. The trend is terrific and promises a consolidation of quality and delivery capability in IT. If 2020 taught us one thing, it is this: in IT everything changes fast — and yet it is the flexible foundation that decides between success and failure. Because the focus had already been placed on the right, adaptable IT components in the months before, many topics lost much of their difficulty and were easier to tackle.

What became of the foundation of 2020.

This review is from an earlier time — today I bring AI & IT into mid-sized companies.
